Defense Post - USAF Orders Ramp Up of JASSM, LRASM Air-Launched Missiles Production (August 2024):
https://thedefensepost.com/2024/08/20/usaf-jassm-lrasm-missiles/
The development comes amid reports that the Biden administration is considering arming Ukrainian F-16s with the air-launched JASSM cruise missile, capable of striking targets 230 miles (370 kilometers) away.
The AGM 158 JASSM extended range (ER) has over twice the range of the baseline variant at 620 miles (998 kilometers), while a newly developed variant, the AGM-158D, has a range of 1,200 miles (1,931 kilometers).
The LRASM, meanwhile, is designed to take out high-priority maritime targets such as aircraft carriers and guided missile cruisers from a range of 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers/223 miles).
It travels at high subsonic speeds and has a 1,000-pound (453-kilogram) penetrator/blast fragmentation warhead.
LRASM business development lead at Lockheed Martin Dominic DeScisciolo said last year that the company would double the combined annual production of both missiles to 1,000 over the coming years.

BBC - What leaked US assessment of Israeli plans to strike Iran shows (October 22, 2024):
What features prominently is the mention of two Air-launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM) systems: Golden Horizon and Rocks.
Rocks is a long-range missile system made by the Israeli company Rafael and designed to hit a variety of targets both above and below ground. Golden Horizon is thought to refer to the Blue Sparrow missile system with a range of around 2,000km (1,240 miles).
The significance of this is that it would indicate that the Israeli Air Force is planning to carry out a similar but greatly expanded version of its ABLM attack on an Iranian radar site near Isfahan in April.
By launching these weapons from long range and far from Iran’s borders it would avoid the need for Israeli warplanes to overfly certain countries in the region like Jordan.

32. We express our concern over the increasing incidents of terrorist attacks linked with ICT capabilities. In this regard, we condemn the premeditated terrorist act of detonating handheld communication devices in Beirut on 17 September 2024, resulted in the loss of life and injury of dozens of civilians. We reiterate that these attacks constitute a grave violation of International Law.
34. We stress that Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be strictly observed. We condemn illegal foreign military presence that lead to increasing risks of a large-scale conflict in the region. We emphasize that illegal unilateral sanctions seriously exacerbate the suffering of the Syrian people.
33. We stress the importance of ensuring the exercise of navigational rights and freedoms of vessels of all states in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait, in accordance with international law. We encourage enhanced diplomatic efforts by all 10 parties to that end, including by addressing the causes of the conflict, and continued support for dialogue and Yemen’s peace process under UN auspices.
37. We stress the importance of full implementation of the JCPOA endorsed by the UNSCR 2231 (2015) and underscore the importance of a constructive approach based on the good faith by all relevant actors to resume full implementation of the JCPOA commitments by all sides.
Brics Currency
India Jaishkankar, Sep. 26
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2024/09/indian-foreign-minister-throws-cold-water-on-the-idea-of-a-brics-currency.html
A Brics+ reserve currency will not be easy to create, says Indian External Affairs Minister, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, citing the need for numerous protocols to align it with the different fiscal and monetary policies of member states.
Dr Jaishankar told journalists in New Delhi that the focus was much more on settling payments in each other’s currencies than on having a new unit for the bloc. “Brics members have their particular currencies, so, many of them say, why do I need a third currency to settle between us? Which is completely understandable. Sometimes it’s a liquidity issue, sometimes it’s a trust issue,” he said while addressing journalists from the Indo-Pacific region at the ministry.
“People have raised the issue that should there be a Brics currency. But, for countries to have a common currency, you need enormous alignment of their very fundamental fiscal policies, monetary policies, economic policies… And when you look at Brics’s standards, I think we’ve to be realistic about the extent of alignment among members.”
https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/brics-2024-kazan-special-coverage
And speaking of the long-awaited BRICS payment system, there were some clues. Putin’s aide reportedly remarked:
The topic of a common BRICS currency was raised during the leaders’ conversation, but these are not issues for public discussion - Putin's Aide Ushakov
Pepe
A BRICS single currency: “Not being considered yet, this issue is not ripe yet.” De-dollarization, Putin stressed, is proceeding step by step: “We’re taking individual steps, one after another. As regards finance, we did not drop the dollar. The dollar is the universal currency. But it wasn’t us – we were banned and barred from [using] it. And now 95% of all the external trade of Russia is denominated in national currencies. They did it themselves with their own hands. They thought we would collapse.”
The challenge for a unified BRICS currency: That “requires thorough economic integration (…) Apart from high level of integration among BRICS members, the introduction of a single BRICS currency would involve comparable monetary quality and volume (…) Otherwise, we will face even bigger issues than those that occurred in the EU.” Putin recalled that when the euro was introduced in the EU, their economies were neither comparable nor equal.
Brics IMF
https://thenextrecession.wordpress.com/2024/10/20/imf-and-brics-no-return-to-bretton-woods/
Kristalina Georgieva has just been endorsed for a second term as IMF chief. And she now talks of ‘inclusive’ economic policies. She says she wants to increase ‘global collaboration and reduce economic inequality’. The IMF claims it now cares about the negative consequences of fiscal austerity, often citing how social spending should be protected from cuts through conditions that stipulate spending floors. Yet, an Oxfam analysis of seventeen recent IMF programs found that for every $1 the IMF encouraged these countries to spend on social protection, it told them to cut $4 through austerity measures.
And as Patrick Bond put it recently: “The “talk left, walk right” of BRICS’ role in global finance is seen not only in its vigorous financial support for the International Monetary Fund during the 2010s, but more recently in the decision by the BRICS New Development Bank – supposedly an alternative to the World Bank – to declare a freeze on its Russian portfolio in early March, since otherwise it would not have retained its Western credit rating of AA+. ” And Russia is a 20% equity holder in NDB.

Brics Israel Economically
https://www.counterpunch.org/2024/10/03/the-blessing-for-genocide-nearly-all-brics-regimes-nurture-israel-economically/
But what also needs contemplating is a sub-set of economically-pro-Israel ruling classes where one might not expect them: within the BRICS+ bloc. Four of them are such blatant supporters that on September 27 at the United Nations, Benjamin Netanyahu painted them green with “THE BLESSING” label on a map: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and India.
1. Russia is the #1 coal supplier to the genocide and South Africa #2 now that Colombia and Turkey have declared Boycott Divestment Sanctions BDS against Israel;
2. Brazil supplies 9% of Israel’s oil while Russia operates the main shipping export terminal for one of the largest oil suppliers (Kazakhstan), and as Michael Karadjis points out, “Israel imports a small but regular amount of oil from its BRICS neighbour Egypt, via Sidi Kerir, near Alexandria, the terminus of the SUMED pipeline. Oil from BRICS members United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, as well as Iraq, also feeds into this pipeline”;
3. in both South Africa and Brazil, leading officials have openly bragged in recent weeks that they will not impose coal and oil sanctions on Israel, with the latter’s defense minister also opposing potential cancellation of military cooperation with Tel Aviv-based Elbit Systems (currently ‘paused’);
4. India supplies vital military equipment for use in Gaza, the West Bank and now Lebanon, including Adani-Elbit’s deadly medium-altitude, long-endurance (‘male’) drones;
5. the two main parts of Israel’s main port – at Haifa – were privatized in recent years by Shanghai International Port Group and Adani, facilitating more efficient supply of weapons and ammo to the IDF;
6. Chinese-Israeli trade hit a recent record of $20 bn/annum, including $14.4 billion of exports to Israel (#1 in the world in 2022) – in spite of December 2023 claims that Chinese Cosco ships would avoid Israeli ports (a stance reversed in February);
7. India is the #5 trader with Israel at nearly $5 billion;
8. the normalization of Arab-Israeli trade continues, e.g. a recent wartime 5% increase in UAE-Israeli commerce – thanks to increasingly crucial transshipment services following Houthi disruptions to Red Sea shipping – featuring co-U.S. sub-imperial powers Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia, as Netanyahu himself bragged when applauding the new land route;
9. South African arms dealer Ivor Ichikowitz (the ruling party’s leading campaign contributor a year ago, and a tireless pro-Israel propagandist this year) operates a military joint venture with Elbit Systems, has a Tel Aviv office and runs an “Ichikowitz Family International Tefillin Bank” supplying the Israel Defense Forces;
10. thousands of migrants from Ethiopia, and hundreds from India, now serve as IDF-employed draftees or mercenaries, alongside an unknown number of South African citizens, and what may be as many as tens of thousands of Russians, because there are, as Brazilian journalist Pepe Escobar conceded, “one million plus Russian passport holders or double passport holders who live in Israel. This is a very very complicated affair because according to the Russian Constitution, Russia has to protect them. The fact that many of these are hardcore Zionist and with a genocidal mentality makes the problem even more unsolvable…”
Putin-Israel

I am Tursunbek Akun, who came from Kyrgyzstan, chairman of the human rights organization of Kyrgyzstan, coordinator of the Congress on Human Rights in Central Asia. I represent not only Kyrgyzstan, but also the public of Central Asian countries….
Today, historical events have taken place on Russian soil, in Kazan, where a multipolar world has already taken over. The unipolar world led by the United States is gradually losing its importance and losing ground. At the BRICS Plus leaders ' meeting, complex issues of the Middle East were discussed. Despite the UN resolution, Israel does not comply in any way and openly ignores UN decisions. He even declared the UN Secretary-General persona non grata. Then Iran launched a massive attack on Israel, and now Israel is announcing retaliatory actions. According to open sources, it is preparing to bomb Iran's oil and nuclear facilities.
I have a question and a suggestion. US military forces are on duty in the Persian Gulf to help Israel. Should the BRICS member states, under the Russian presidency, resist the unilateral domination of the United States and Israel and give a decent response to their actions if they start a war against other states? Not only should US warships be on duty off the coast of the Persian Gulf, but Russian and other ships of BRICS member states should be on duty at the same time to help Iran, Palestine and Lebanon. Only in this case, the arbitrariness of the United States and Israel will be stopped.
Putin:
But we must work with all participants in the process, and in no case allow the conflict to grow and worsen. In particular, we need to work with Israel, which, admittedly, still faced a terrorist attack in October last year.
Therefore, we must analyze the situation very calmly and carefully, and in no case condone disproportionate responses to these terrorist acts, but work with everyone and achieve a reduction in the level of confrontation, including on the Lebanese track.

HAMAS-Israel: Interests of two multinational corporations collide in the Gaza Strip
Michael Magid
Before the events of October 7, 2023, 2.3 million Gazans were buyers of Israeli goods, and about 50 thousand worked for Israeli companies in worse conditions compared to Israelis.
As French researcher Emilio Minassian has pointed out, Gaza is a very poor and disenfranchised working-class suburb of Tel Aviv, home to over two million people, but part of the Israeli economy.
Minassian points out that on October 7 last year, dozens of Thai agricultural workers exploited on the periphery of the Gaza Strip by Israeli companies were killed or abducted by the militant Islamist group Hamas. Now Israeli bosses are withholding salaries from other Thai workers to force them to work in the war zone. "Any social criticism worthy of its name should take into account the point of view of Thai workers when it comes to what is happening in Israel and Palestine. This country will belong to the Palestinian proletarians no more than to the Thai proletarians," Minassian concludes.
In his opinion, the solution to the problem lies outside the national division. Of course, workers have every right to consider themselves Arabs, Jews, Thais, or anyone else, but the situation will remain the same until the modern Palestine and Israel are replaced by an association of self-governing multinational communes that organize non-market production and life itself according to their needs.
The October 7 operation was an astonishing act on the part of a ruling class, but one which can be understood, above all, I think, by the contradictions that cut through Hamas itself. It’s only a hypothesis, but it’s not unimaginable that October 7 was conceived by the armed wing of Hamas without much consultation with its political direction. (It’s also possible that the size of the breaks in the wall surprised even those who conceived the attack, who might have sought something more like a suicide operation, without such a collapse of the Israeli military, which then opened the door to large-scale massacres.)
